Fugly Friday - Apple Jacket

This was floating around the socknitters list last week, and I thought it was pretty funny.

It's actually kind of cute, and there's a chance that you might actually save some bruising on your apple by using these.
But part of me still screams - you knit what?
A (very) brief search did not turn up a pattern, but I did find several etsy sites selling them for about $15 each. That's the part that really boggles the mind. That can't take more than an hour and some leftovers to knit. If you find a pattern, link it. I may do it for novelty purposes.

I knew I'd seen this somewhere about a year ago. The pattern is in a book called Funky Knits. Or you can find a free pattern online here at:

That was linked in the Hungry Girl newsletter this week, too! As a thing for sale, unfortunately, not as a pattern. Those things are everywhere all of a sudden...dude!

I just keep thinking about the kid that has one in their lunch bag and everyone asking what it is and picking on them... Sitting on the bus getting it off the apple before getting to school and stashing it in the bookbag until they are on their way home from school...

Personally I think it is cute... I go back to work (thinking about it) I might make one for my lunch...

If I'm not mistaken, there's a pattern out there for a banana jacket, too. . .

Funny - I just got this newsletter from One Fine Yarn and look what was there:

Perhaps everyone should make one.
