Carrie both won Fugly Friday and decided to help me destash. When she sent her payment for the yarn she bought, she also sent this!
It's a sock pattern based on Fawkes, the Pheonix from the Harry Potter books. How cool is that? It also really looks like a neat pattern. Now I have to find the right firey yarn for it.
I know I said I wasn't going to buy more yarn, but Stitches Midwest is next week. There's going to be shopping, so it might as well be with a proper project in mind.

speaking of destashing, what will it cost me for the blue Dream in Color yarn and the Misti pink laceweight?
hmmm, that colorful Fortissma sock yarn has caught my eye! If you were looking to destash that, I'd be interested!
I am glad you like it! I am on the hunt for the perfect yarn too. There are two other patterns, one is Bellatrix (drop stitch pattern) and Nagini (not enough detail for me), but I spent the 7 books actually pulling for the good guys...
Hi! I found your blog from a link on someone else's, but I've found you an interesting read so far. :) I wanted to tip you off to the fact that Shelby B on etsy.com has some beautiful Harry Potter universe colorways. I just got done making a pair of socks with the Fawkes colorway. It was incredible. Might be the perfect yarn for your pattern! :)
Where can I get my hands on these patterns? :)
That is very cool! I love it. :)
Oh how COOL! I think I may even own some fiery sock yarn that's looking for a pattern like that...I may have to do a search...
If you still haven't found the right yarn...Shaefer Anne in the HotShot colorway is just perfect. It looks as though the skein is on fire! It's destined to be a forest canopy shawl for me :)
